Watercolor done with the right attitude is easy when you take control of your brush, the right amount of water in the brush. Using the right equipment is very important also. I joke with my students about the difference in a good pair of shoes and a cheap pair of shoes, which will last and perform better? The same goes for tools in painting with any medium be it oils or acrylic or watercolor. Now I'm not saying go for a lot of different brushes all you need is one good brush for most paintings to start with. The larger composition the larger the brush but most of the beginning works are small to start with. Good paper in a 140 pound weight will work well. 300 pound paper will take a lot of application of paint and scrubbing to the paper before damaging the surface. I've found if you use transparent paints you can remove most of the paint by soaking paper into your kitchen sink and gently rubbing with your fingers to remove the paint, so you can dry by laying flat and staple to a wood board or a hard surface. It is never to late to try painting so give it a try and paint like a child with no cares in the world. Make it a great week.
